All you need is 1 cup of water and 1/4 cup of flax seeds to make a great hair gel. Add them into a saucepan over high and stir constantly (but gently) until after boiling a little when the seeds drop a little and suspend in the gel. Then strain twice and whisk it for a few seconds. Voila! You can find this recipe on the naturallycurly.com forums if you want more detail.

My best "green" beauty secret is not to shower every day! It might sound gross to people who are used to showering every day, but my skin and hair are SO much healthier now that I'm not stripping off all the natural oils every day, and we save a TON of water which is great for the environmment. My hair has never looked better and I probably wash it with shampoo every week and a half or so. I will occasionally rinse in between with plain water if I feel I need it, but if you don't strip all the natural oils out of your hair, you don't have to replace them with something else to get shiny lustrous hair! Thanks for the awesome giveaway :)

Twice a week I like to gently exfoliate my facial skin with my own homemade facial scrub. I take 2 tablespoons of plain Greek Yogurt and I add about a teaspoon of regular oatmeal and a small dollop of honey and I mix it all together in the palm of my hands and I gently massage it all over my face, avoiding my eye area. I do this for about 2 minutes. I then rinse it off completely with warm water and my skin feels so silky smooth and soft. It truly makes me feel like I went to a spa and was given a luxurious facial, for real! I have been dying to try the Kiss My Face Products. Just grab a cup full of mayonnaise, some plastic food wrap and throw a couple of towels in the drier on high.
Work the mayonnaise into your hair, starting by massaging it into the scalp and roots. Then draw it through to your ends until your hair is thoroughly coated. Pile the hair on top of your head. Take a couple of feet of saran wrap and wrap it around the top of your head to contain the mayo.
Take a pre-heated towel from the dryer and wrap it around your head over the saran wrap. The heat will aid with deep conditioning. After about 10 minutes, change to another heated towel and leave that on for another 10 minutes.
Remove the towel and plastic wrap and shampoo your hair as usual. Done once a month, this cholesterol treatment will keep your hair soft and shiny.
