Little Twig Organic Baby Wash

One of our favorite baby shower gifts: Little Twig Organic bath and body products for babies. A couple of friends bought us Little Twig Tangerine Body Wash. The smell is terrific -- light and clean and lovely -- and the packaging is too cute for words.

Little Twig products are developed with the advice of pediatricians and real-life parents as a safe and natural bath time alternative. They use organic and botanical ingredients that are pure and gentle for sensitive baby skin. Each year Little Twig chooses a charitable organization benefiting children's issues and donates a portion of its profits to help bring awareness (as well as time and marketing) to their cause.

Dermatologist-tested Tangerine Body Wash contains skin-softening Vitamin E, skin-soothing calendula, and citrus and rosemary.

Lily Organics All Natural Skincare Products

sensitive_skin_moisturing_cream.jpgIn the first trimester of my pregnancy, I was bothered by the scent of almost any moisturizer I tried. All my old standby lotions suddenly smelled like petroleum (not surprising since petroleum is a major ingredient in many skin creams).

Wish someone had told me then about Lily Organics and their all organic line of lotions, creams and other facial products. Founded in 1986 by Lily Morgan, the Colorado-based company is one of the only skin care companies to make all their products from 100% non-synthetic organic ingredients grown fresh on an organic farm.

I like the sound of their Unscented Sensitive Skin Moisturizing Cream, which is made for folks with sensitive skin that reacts to ingredients in other moisturizers. The ingredients are all vegan -- purified water, sweet almond oil, shea butter, kosher vegetable glycerin, tincture of lily flower, xanthan gum, lecithin, soy protein, hectorite mineral, citrus seed extract.

Check out Lily Organics.

Lush Massage Bars - Sleepy Head and Wiccy Magic Muscles

LUSH products look funny - more like gourmet foods than skincare products - and I have to admit, that's a big part of what drew us into the store. But I'm a convert to their massage bars, which rank high on my list of favorite moisturizers for my itchy pregnant belly.

Rub My Tummy: Palmer's Cocoa Butter Tummy Butter

B000GHDPF4.01-A3HDDZD5V5HUQV._AA220_SCLZZZZZZZ_V65892629_.jpgSo, what soothes itchy pregnant skin, helps reduce the appearance of stretch marks (never too soon to start fighting them!), and smells so good your husband will come up behind you and give you kisses?

Well, if you're me, it's Palmer's Cocoa Butter Formula Tummy Butter for Stretch Marks.

The packaging is decidedly unappealing - especially compared to all those $30 body butters being marketed to the pre-mommy set. But I'll tell you, once you get past it and dig your hands into the sweet smelling balm, you'll be totally sold on it.

Available at drugstores and from Palmers.

Color Me...Tan: Organic Tanning Spray

organic tanning spray.jpg
Thanks to Really Natural reader Laura K. for sending along this blurb on organic tanning spray. The author tried the organic spray tanning at a spa in NYC, but also recommends Decleor Aroma Sun Self Tanning Milk as a great do-it-at-home alternative.

We prefer our skin pale, but if you must bronze, a more natural and/or organic tanning formula seems way preferable to the smelly chemical versions sold in most drugstores.

Availale from Decleor.

EO Organic Hand Sanitizer and Sanitizing Hand Wipes

EO Organic Hand Sanitzier.jpgLooking for an organic alternative to those anti-bacterial hand sanitizers? I was pleasantly surprised to discover that EO Organic, makers of some of our favorite hand soaps and moisturizers has come out with two organic hand sanitizing products, both scented with organic lavender essential oil. Both products are made from organic ingredients and are not tested on animals.

EO Organic Hand Sanitizer

EO Organic Hand Sanitizer uses organic (non-GMO) alcohol to kill germs on contact; lavender essential oil to make your hands smell nice, and aloe vera to nourish, moisturize and protect them.

Available at The Vitamin Shoppe.

EO Organic Sanitizing Hand Wipes
EO Santizing Hand Wipes.jpg

EO's handwipes use the same ingredients in a more portable form - handwipes - so you can take them wherever you go. Put some in your pocketbook, your gym bag, your car, your stroller. Regular handwipes are filled with chemicals; the EO version is totally organic. For an added bonus, the towelette is made of wood pulp, so it's totallly biodegradable.

Available at The Vitamin Shoppe.

Gisele Bunchen Saves the Rainforest

It's Columbus Day. What better time is there to sit back and reflect on indigenous people and the havoc we've wrought on them over the years? And who better to raise our awareness than...Gisele?!

Today's Ecorazzi reports that Brazilian supermodel Gisele Bundchen is starring in a new commercial calling attention to the plight of the indigenous people of the Xingu River in Brazil, who are suffering due to deforestation and clean water issues in the Amazon.

Gisele will be starring in a new commercial to educate the public on the issues. These include a controversial hydroelectric dam that is under construction and river pollution from cattle ranchers, loggers and soy farmers.

Read the full story - and check out some fab pictures of Gisele from the photo shoot at Celebitchy.

So as a girl who grew up on Bonne Bell Lip Smackers, and as a grown woman who is positively addicted to lip balm, it gave me great pleasure to discover Un-petroleum.

As the name suggests, Un-petroleum replaces the petroleum-based products traditionally found in lip balm with plant oils, natural waxes, essential vitamins and therapeutic herbs. Better yet, it comes in a cherry flavor that smells just like Bonne Bell's Dr. Pepper.

Smells Like Teen Spirit - Send Help!

Can anyone recommend an effective natural deodorant? I'd like to switch from my current anti-perspirant, which contains aluminum, to something aluminum-free. But I don't want to smell like a monkey. Or sweaty gym socks.

According to Amazon, best-selling natural deodorants include Thai Crystal's Rock Salt deodorant stone, and selections from Tom's of Maine, Nature's Gate, and Avalon Organics. Does anyone have experience with any of these products? Are there other natural deodorants you'd recommend? Send 'em in, and I'll post comments and reviews.
