Greensender creates custom SIGG bottles by using a precision laser engraving process. Your design is created by etching away the top layer of color which exposes the vibrant metallic bottle underneath. The result is an exquisite and extremely durable mark that will make your SIGG bottle a prized possession, the envy of all your friends and an arrow in the quiver of environmental justice!
We all know the importance of using reusable water bottles over plastic ones, but it can be difficult to tell your reusable bottle apart from your friends' bottles. Sure, Klean Kanteens and Siggs come in different colors or designs, but even so, this does not make each one unique. For example at my daughter's school, several kids and teachers have the same Klean Kanteen. We have tried to distinguish our bottles with stickers, but they always wash off. Dents in the bottle become the identifying mark, but Greensender's bottle shop offers a better solution.
A customized Sigg water bottle makes a wonderful gift (maybe it can be a late Father's Day present?). It is also a great idea for camp or back to school, as your child's water bottle will be truly unique. My daugther LOVES her customized bottle from Greensender. They do an excellent job with the engraving, and the Sigg bottle is very durable. Sigg bottles are made in Switzerland, not China, which is another bonus for consumers.
The images featured in this calendar are archival-quality reproductions of the covers of the actual Golden Age and Silver Age Covers of DC Comics cover art that were sold many decades ago. In some cases the images have been digitally repaired and restored where creases, tears, marks, or other damage would have otherwise distracted from the appreciation of the artwork as it appeared at that time. Some images have been cropped and/or resized to fit this format.
What makes these calendars green? They are printed on 50% consumer waste recycled paper with soy based inks. They also include vintage images that you are sure to keep beyond the calendar year, thus reducing waste. You may even want to frame the images and give them as gifts!
Kiss My Face Sugar and Spice Natural Holiday Collection
Kiss My Face has introduced a holiday collection called Sugar & Spice. Vanilla sugar and cranberry spice scent these beauty products containing no animal ingredients, artificial colors, or unnecessary chemicals. These products have not been tested on animals. Here are the products that I have tried:
Kiss My Face Sugar & Spice Cranberry Spice Self Foaming Soap: I am not a big fan of self foaming soaps; I think they are a little strange; however, I do enjoy the scent of this soap. Often after washing my hands, I would delight in the subtle scent left on my hands. Ingredients:
H2GO Hydrogen-Powered Remote Control Cars: Be One of the First to Own One!
If you have ever had a remote control car, you know that you go through batteries like crazy. Master Replicas is featuring a hydrogen-powered remote control car called the H2GO. If you are one of the first 100 people to purchase this toy, Master Replica will donate two additional H2GO models to the school of your choice! Here's how the hydrogen-powered toy works:
The compact kit comprises a refueling station, a solar panel, a hydrogen-powered RC car and a remote control. The refueling station splits water by electrolysis into its elements, oxygen and hydrogen. Oxygen is released and the hydrogen is pumped into the car, contained in a balloon in the car unit.
When the car is turned on, the hydrogen flows through another catalyst in the car causing a series of reactions that power the car. The reactions cause a flow of electrons that produce an electric current, which in turn powers the motors and back wheels.
The H2GO delivers the same performance as other R/C cars, according to their website. I have not tested this toy out, and I have not had much luck with hydrogen-powered toys. My family tried a hydrogen-powered rocket that broke after two days; however, the H2GO appears to be better constructed.
Gone are the days when organic cotton meant hippy dippy. There are A LOT of folks using organic cotton for their baby clothes these days. So a parent can be discerning.
Astrotot now makes an organic line of baby clothes and kids t-shirts with a sense of humor. According to the press release for the new organic baby gear,
Astrotot prides itself on providing uniquely funny, insightful and expressive infant and toddler gift wear while supporting sustainable cotton farming practices and ecologically responsible printing methods....All designs are printed in-house using a revolutionary eco-friendly digital printing process and packaged in distinctive gift boxes made of recycled cardboard.
We haven't seen the shirts in-person, but on the website they look to be high quality. And "I Have a Wedgie" and "Fo'Shizzle" are pretty darn funny.
Be sure to select from the organic line, if that's what you're after; other shirts are sweat-shop-free American Apparel, but not organic.
Now through December 15th, Astrotot is offering free shipping on orders over $40.
We blogged about Arabella Miller's fun graphic kids t-shirts last month. As you'll recall, they're so organic (cotton, ink, etc.) that they're soil-certified. And, just as importantly, they're (almost) as cute as the sweet little muffin you're going to put in them. At the time, we lamented that they were only available in the U.K. Well, it's a global world. Yippee!
We especially like the new long-sleeve t-shirts, pictured here, which have a cool, retro baseball shirt look. Nice.
Shipping to the U.S. costs seven pounds. Not a bad deal when you consider that overnight domestic FedEx is about the same.
An LED flashlight. Everybody needs one -- for emergencies, camping, your car. Shake for 60 seconds and get 30 minutes of light.
For Her Maine Warmers heating or cooling animals. Like a hot water bottle you can snuggle. All natural, filled with corn. Microwave for three minutes and your toes (or back, or bed) will be nice and snuggly warm for hours.
Solar Charger. Not just for guys. This solar charge comes in hot pink. Better still, you can use it to charge your cell phone, your GPS, your iPod, or your digital camera.
Alice Water's new book, The Art of Simple Food. A beautiful book, providing real insight into how the Chez Panisse chef thinks about food.

We're big fans of Blirt's wordplay designs - available in t-shirts and longsleeve t's - designed to introduce kids to the playfulness of the English language. (Check out our Blirt t-shirt review from last May.)
And, we like it that Blirt shirts are made of 100% organic cotton, using non-toxic dyes and are water-base silk-screened (a more environmentally friendly process). According to Tracy, the decision to go organic wasn't part of the original business plan until Blirt ran into some delays sourcing the shirts:
During the delays, we learned about conventional cotton farming and were dismayed to find that it is actually one of agriculture’s most environmentally destructive activities. So the decision to go organic was really a no-brainer.
We're glad to hear it, and glad to hear that that Barneys will be carrying Blirt's kids shirts and pants. Sounds like there's a market for "organic without the crunch" baby wear. Hallelujah!
The site features a video of party planner Traci Phillips talking about how she planned a green baby shower for Sheryl Crow's son Wyatt. Among the tips:
- Use local foods
- Avoid paper products or use recycled, recyclable tableware
- Wrap presents in reusable grocery bags or cloth diapers tied with a bow
- Have guests sign an organic baby t-shirt instead of a guestbook

The World Wildlife Federation (WWF) is concerned about climate change. And they should be -- global warming from greenhouse gas emissions is the single largest threat to our environment today.
This would make a gift for that "Hotter than I Should Be" animal lover on your list. You can let them know you've noticed, and that you care about the planet.
