Is it Time to Take Fluoride Out of Our Water?

About 1700 professionals, including Arvid Carlsson, the 2000 Nobel Laureate for Physiology or Medicine, have signed a statement by the Fluoride Action Network asking Congress to sponsor hearings on the safety of fluoridation. Fluoride is most effective when used topically, as in toothpaste, and there evidence that systemic intake is harmful. According to the CDC, 32% of children have fluorosis from fluoridated drinking water, and the American Dental Association warns parents not to use fluoridated water when mixing infant formulas. Systemic fluoride has been linked to risk of bone fractures, decreased thyroid function, lowered IQ, arthritic-like conditions, dental fluorosis and, possibly, osteosarcoma.

You don't have to wait for Congress or your local community to agree to remove fluoride from your tap water. There are filters available that you can install to remove this chemical and other toxins. Fluoride filters are the best solution currently, especially since there is no guarantee that bottled water made from purified city water is fluoride-free.
